CALL FOR NARRATIVES OF EXPERIENCE

You are willing to experiment the Deep Approach to Turkish Teaching and Learning in Spring 2011 and YOU want to tell the story of your experiences with this new way to handle curriculum development. Here is a unique opportunity for you to publish your experiences in a refereed academic format.

Focus: Curriculum development for the implementation of the deep approach
Support: Online teacher training videos, forum, and video conferences
Format: 7,000 to 10,000 word narrative of experiences
Letter of intention: February 1st, 2011 (to be e‐mailed to fvtochon@wisc.edu)

Please provide a brief outline of your context and topics of interest for this writing project; you will receive a response and will get feedback on your drafts.
Conditions: Read the guidelines available on the forum, participate in the online forum at least once a month, and watch the teacher training videos on the Deep Approach website: http://deepapproach.wceruw.org/theory.html

 

Deadline for the first draft (for feedback): June 30, 2011.
Deadline for the finished manuscript: August 31st, 2011.
Publication: probably in the Fall of 2012
Incentive: Authors of chapters that will be published will receive
$500 for their contribution to curriculum development after the
final revised manuscript will have been received.

Content: Your stories of experience developing a curriculum and instruction for the deep approach to Turkish using its online instructional materials. Journal‐keeping style stuffed with anecdotes and reports of experimentations, hesitations and successes. Tips to colleagues starting with the new approach. Tips for using the materials efficiently. Examples of curricula using the proposed instructional materials. Illustrations in the forms of pictures, sketches, concept maps, for which you own and release copyright for publication.
